FMCSA data shows that nearly 30 percent of injury crashes involving large trucks are rear-end collisions. Many of these can be avoided with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that detect risks early, either alerting the driver to take action or automatically applying the brakes to help prevent a crash.

Blind spots, especially when driving large commercial vehicles, can be difficult for any driver to manage. Mirrors and backup cameras help improve visibility but still don’t eliminate the risk of back-up incidents. NHTSA data shows that back-up incidents lead to an average of 263 fatalities and more than 10,000 injuries every year in the U.S., mostly in parking lots, loading zones and other non-traffic areas.
